Big Lots to close 56 more stores

(Gray News) - Discount retailer Big Lots said it intends to close dozens more stores across the country.

Big Lots listed more than 300 closures earlier this year.

It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September and entered an agreement to be acquired by Nexus Capital Management, listing the company as a "stalking horse" bidder.

Nexus will purchase the company unless another firm outbids it.

The retailer operates 1,145 locations in the U.S. currently.

Big Lots has added dozens more stores to the closures list incrementally in recent weeks.

Some stores that were listed as closing earlier this year have closed. Others are conducting closing sales with discounts storewide.
