Big Springs' sprawling, gnome-laden corn maze is open for the season

Big Springs Farm, which just opened for the fall season, has unveiled its 10-acre corn maze for 2024.

In its fourth year, the Lanesboro farm's maze has been designed to reflect the operators' Norwegian heritage with a 12-foot-tall gnome standing guard at the maze's entrance.

The maze's layout features a trio of gnomes with "Velkommen til Big Springs" carved into the field.

The maze features five miles of walking paths, in the middle of which is a large lookout tower offering a spot to scope out the maze from above.

For another unique view, the farm will bring back its Corn Maze by Flashlight events, allowing visitors to traverse the maze at night on Oct. 18, 19, and 26.

A pair of new additions to its concessions menu further echo this year's theme. This year, you'll find the Nordic Dog, a hot dog wrapped in lefse, as well as locally-made lefse chips.

Elsewhere on the property, visitors can delve into the pumpkin patch and ogle the sunflower field, which will be around until it freezes. The farm also has a pair of big slides, farm animals, a zipline swing, gravity box basketball, duck races, hayrides, and more.

Big Springs Farm is open on Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 27. It'll open at 10 a.m. each day with closing time set for 7 p.m. in September and 5 p.m. in October.
