Week 5 of the college football season has come to an end, and it featured the Alabama Crimson Tide taking the top spot after a huge win against Georgia.

One conference that has been a surprise is the Big Ten Conference. While teams such as Oregon, Ohio State, and Penn State are doing what they were expected to, the Indiana Hoosiers are 5-0 and 2-0 in Big Ten play.

On the other side of the Big Ten standings is Purdue, who is 1-3 and just a notch above UCLA for last place in the conference.

On Sunday, Purdue decided to make a coaching change by relieving offensive coordinator Graham Harrell of his duties, per Dub Jellison.

"BREAKING: #Purdue and Ryan Walters have relieved offensive coordinator Graham Harrell of his duties, effective immediately," Jellison wrote on X.

Purdue head coach Ryan Walters released a statement along with the decision, per Jellison.

"Decisions like this are never easy," Walters said. "after evaluating our start to the season, I felt that it was best for our team to make a change now. We are appreciative of Graham's contributions to our program and wish him the best going forward."

The Purdue offense got off to a rough start in 2024. They ranked 192 in points per game, 201 in yards per game, and 205 in passing yards per game.

Furthermore, Purdue's lone win was a 49-0 victory against Indiana State at the start of the year.

Harrell was a college star at Texas Tech but has bounced around as a coach. He spent three years at North Texas before spending three seasons as the OC at USC and one year at West Virginia.

Harrell was in his second year as OC and quarterbacks coach at Purdue.

The Boilermakers face Wisconsin in Madison on October 5, so they don't have much time to find a new play-caller.
