Bigfoot Spotted In Monroe? Midnight Howls 'Not A Bobcat' The Big Fella's shenanigans in Monroe are just the latest reports of Sasquatch in Connecticut, dating back to 1953.

CONNECTICUT — A Sasquatch was on the loose in the woods around Monroe last fall, according to an eyewitness report filed with The Bigfoot Field Research Organization this summer.

The "short duration screaming/long-duration whooping" of the Big Fella was heard after midnight between the Botsford and Upper Stepney neighborhoods on Oct. 17.

The howls went on for about five to ten minutes, and were decidedly not the calls of your garden variety Western Connecticut beasties, according to the report.

"It was not a bobcat/fox/coyote," the witness posted . "I live out west, CA to be specific, and I'm well acquainted with coyotes, bobcats, and cougars and their vocalizations. This voice had quite a bit of 'power' behind it and I could tell that it was carried over distance. I would 'rough' guesstimate at least two klicks from my coords."

Those GPS coordinates were 41.338269,-73.261060, which would place the monster a couple of miles west of the Northbrook Condos.

Bigfoot's cries mesmerized more than just the neighborhood humans. All the dogs in the area started barking at once when the vocalizations ended, and the normally chatty owls were silenced "for a good ten minutes" after the Sasquatch stopped carrying on, according to the report.

The howling consisted of "roughly 10 seconds of vocalization then stop. This repeated four or five times that I was aware of. It may have been going on prior to me noticing it," the database entry reads.

BFRO analysts have tagged the Monroe report as a Class B incident, one that does not "afford a clear view of the subject." The brass ring for Bigfoot chasers is a Class A, a sighting "in circumstances where misinterpretation or misidentification of other animals can be ruled out with greater confidence."

The Monroe sighting was not Connecticut's first monster-peeping by a long shot, according to the BFRO. The cryptid-curious will find 24 more Connecticut entries dating back to 1953 in the database, including a Class A reported on the west side of Blue Jay Orchards outside Bethel in February 2022.

The eyewitness then was on the phone in their car in their driveway when about 30 deer raced through the backyard, apparently fleeing a Bigfoot that meant business:

"It was solid black from head to toe with no color differences. It was also too large to be a person. I had a size comparison with the deer ran just past it. The black figure was about 2 and a half times the height of the deer torso. It must have been between 8 and 10 feet tall," the eyewitness reported .

Other Class A reports include a "close-range, multi-witness motorist sighting of a Bigfoot in Pachaug State Forest near Griswold" and a "large hairy biped seen chasing deer behind a home at dusk near Bridgewater."

Not convinced? Go out and look for yourself. BFRO cryptozoologists will be leading a Connecticut expedition June 19-22, 2025. The exact location of the Bigfoot stomping grounds will be revealed only to those who register, no doubt to avoid keeping mobs of the BF-curious from spooking the Sasquatch.
