Bill Hauter wins the Illinois house of Representative’s 87th district
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The incumbent Republican State Representative Dr. Bill Hauter retained a second term in the 87th House District.
Dr. Hauter defeated his independent opponent Dr. David Gill by a more than 50% margin of victory.
The 87th is a sprawling district. It runs from the southern border of Peoria County in its northwest-most corner, over to the westernmost edge of Bloomington, and has a southern border that skirts Decatur and extends a little south of Old Rt 36. It's pictured below.
Dr. Hauter was first elected to the seat in 2022.
Previously, Dr. Hauter was a partner with Associated Anesthesiologist, working mostly with OSF, and specializing in pediatric cardiac anesthesia. He is still an Emergency Physician employed by OSF HealthCare and also serves on the Tazewell County Board.
Dr. Gill, who ran as an Independent, formerly practiced family medicine and obstetrics. He has spent the last five years as a Hospice Medical Director and also spent a large amount of time as an emergency room doctor.
