Bills vs. Jaguars: First official injury report of Week 3

M.Wright31 min ago
The Buffalo Bills won't take the field again until Monday night when they play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars , so Thursday was our first official look at an injury list, and, while it looks long and scary, it really isn't anything we haven't already known.

The Bills still have quarterbacks Josh Allen (left hand) and Mitch Trubisky (knee), tight end Quintin Morris (shoulder), and running back Ty Johnson (knee) on the injury list. All four of them have been full participants in practices for a week or more. The fact that we're still seeing their names means they're still receiving some type of treatment from Buffalo's medical staff. As long as they continue to be full participants, there isn't much to worry about here.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, nickel cornerback Taron Johnson (forearm) and linebacker Terrel Bernard (pectoral) are complete non-participants in this week's practices. We know that they won't practice all week as on Wednesday, head coach Sean McDermott announced that they had already been ruled out for Monday's game . While we still haven't been given much information and don't know the extent of their injuries, the fact that neither Johnson nor Bernard have made their way to the Injured Reserve list is a good sign that the Bills hope to have them back sooner rather than later.

Where we find the not-so-definitive status with some of Buffalo's players is in those names that have moved from DNPs last week to limited now: defensive ends Javon Solomon (oblique) and Dawuane Smoot (toe). Throw defensive end Casey Toohill (knee) in with them and the Bills' pass rush looks a little lacking in depth. However, defensive ends Greg Rousseau and Von Miller have been doing enough work on the edge to give these guys a little time to finish working through their injuries.

As for the Jaguars, they too are working on deciding who will be ready by Monday night.

The biggest concern for Jacksonville could be that tight end Evan Engram isn't practicing. The eight-year veteran injured his hamstring in warm-ups before the Jaguars' Week 2 matchup with the Cleveland Browns — one they ultimately lost by a score of 18-13. Engram has been a nice safety net for quarterback Trevor Lawrence over the past two seasons with 187 receptions for 1,792 yards and eight touchdowns during his time in Jacksonville. The other two tight ends on the Jaguars' roster have a combined 22 receptions in the same time frame.

Running back Tank Bigsby injured his shoulder during a kickoff in the second quarter of the Jaguars' loss to the Browns. As a result, he never saw any snaps on offense last week. In Week 1, a loss to the Miami Dolphins , Bigsby carried the ball 12 times for 73 yards, including a 26-yard run.

Safety Darnell Savage is working through a quadriceps injury that kept him out of all of Week 2 and most of Week 1.

We'll have to wait until after Friday's practice to take another look at both teams and who's getting any extra practice before we can begin to form an idea about who might not be in uniform on Monday night.
