Bloomfield Township Supervisor Dani Walsh lost her re-election bid Tuesday to former state legislator Michael McCready.

Walsh, a Democrat, received 13,946 votes; McCready, a Republican, got 14,843, or 51.49% of the total.

Walsh was one of four Democrats elected to the township's seven-member Board of Trustees in 2020. Democrats have held a majority on the board for the last four years in a township considered a Republican stronghold.

At the time, Walsh said she was the first woman supervisor.

She served as a trustee before her election to the township's top post.

McCready served in the state House from 2013-2019.

Three incumbent trustees were re-elected Tuesday and will be joined by one newcomer:

– Incumbent Republican Neal Barnett received 14,705 votes.

– Incumbent Democrat Val Murray received 13,864 votes.

– Incumbent Republican Chris Kolinski garnered 13,595 votes.

– Newcomer Mark Antakli, a Republican, got 13,584 votes.

Three candidates ran unsuccessfully for trustee:

– Republican Malissa Bossardet garnered 13,343 votes.

– Democrat Oscar Garner Jr. gathered 13,241 votes.

– Democrat Roman Grigoriev received 12,575 votes.

Democratic Trustee Stephanie Fakih, who was recently censured by the board for a social media post in which she called Zionists "scum," did not seek re-election.

Clerk Martin Brook, a Democrat, and Treasurer Michael Schostak, a Republican, ran unopposed and were re-elected.

The board will now have a Republican majority, with Brook and Murray the only Democrats serving.
