Bloomington mayor reappointed to Illinois Workforce Innovation Board
SPRINGFIELD — Gov. JB Pritzker has reappointed Bloomington Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe to the Illinois Workforce Innovation Board, according to a Monday news release.
Since becoming mayor in 2021, Mwilambwe and has collaborated with local partners to develop and retain a strong workforce, the news release said. He has served as interim director of equal opportunity, ethics and access at Illinois State University, where he has led investigations into harassment and discrimination issues, and ensured compliance with mandated state and federal reports. He also has served as assistant director for student development for University Housing Services.
Additionally, Mwilambwe has been recognized by his peers with the Star Award for Promotion of Diversity and for Outstanding New Program, according to the news release.
Mwilambwe holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and a Master of Science in Education from Illinois State University.
His reappointment is pending confirmation by the Illinois Senate.
