Boil water advisory ends for Bennington

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — State health officials say Bennington's water is safe to drink, and residents do not have to boil it first.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment put the town under a boil water advisory on Sunday after a power fluctuation caused a loss of pressure to the city's water supply system. When that happens, chlorine residuals can drop, putting the system at risk for bacteria to get in.

Kansans line up to vote on Election Day

On Tuesday, the KDHE announced it had rescinded the advisory because the water had been tested at a laboratory and found to be safe.
