Bond denied for man charged in Meridian Street shooting, new details emerge

HUNTSVILLE, Ala ( WHNT ) — One of five men charged in a deadly shooting on Meridian Street in October has been denied bond as new details emerge in the case.

According to court documents, a Madison County Judge denied Jordan Lakes pretrial bond on Friday. Documents show Lakes was denied bond due to his conduct in the incident showing an "extreme indifference to human life."

Lakes, along with Dion Earl Ernest Roos-VorHauer , Jordan Latrell Smith, Kennedy Thomas Turner and Tyler O'Neal Andrade , is charged with reckless murder in the shooting that killed Damien Obrien Manning and Devante Centrell Dixon. Manning died on the scene, while Dixon died from his injuries in the hospital on Sunday.

The shooting took place at a gas station in the 3300 block of Meridian Street shortly after 10 p.m. on Oct. 12.

While denying Lakes's bond, documents also revealed new details about the shooting.

Court documents state Lakes fired at least twelve rounds from a handgun into a crowd of nearly 100 people during the shooting. The court also said that Lakes fled the scene after the shooting.

He was arrested nearly a month later on Nov. 7.

The judge also said in the filing that the facts show Lakes poses a significant threat to the community if released before trial.

No other hearings have been set in Lakes's case.
