EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — The public is encouraged to bring their U.S. flags to welcome back veterans at the El Paso Airport this weekend.

The Honor Flight of Southern New Mexico and El Paso will happen at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the main lobby of the El Paso International Airport, located at 6701 Convair Rd.

According to the City of El Paso in a news release, the Honor Flight will be bringing over 30 veterans who served in World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War back to the Sun City after visiting war memorials in Washington D.C.

Honor flights are designed to "honor and remember those who served," according to the City.

"This trip provides closure, healing and the welcome home these heroes deserve," the City said.
