CATLETTSBURG This week's indictments out of Boyd County include charges for a pair accused of evading police and bailing from a stolen vehicle last month.

Hassan Adnan Assi, 33, of Westerville, Ohio, and Amanda Elise Assi, 39, of Ironton, were arrested on Sept. 16 after police allege Hassan failed to comply with a traffic stop after the maroon Cadillac he was driving popped up as stolen out of Ohio.

After the initial alleged evasion was successful, police said the pair ditched the vehicle on 39th Street and were later found walking on Stratton Drive after a home security camera captured the two on foot in the area.

Hassan was indicted on charges of second-degree fleeing or evading police, receiving stolen property, failure to maintain insurance and operating on a suspended or revoked operators license.

Amanda was indicted on a sole count of receiving stolen property, a class C felony, and her bond is set at $10,000.

Hassan's bail is currently set at $100,000.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather a grand jury found strong enough evidence from prosecutors to pursue felony conviction.
