K.Wilson25 min ago

Boyd Meets Girl, a classical guitar and cello duo, performs at at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the UM-Western Beier Auditorium in Dillon and at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at The Mother Lode Theatre in Butte.

Cellist Laura Metcalf is American; guitarist Rupert Boyd is Australian. Melding classical training and virtuosity with a mixed program of some classical and some pop yields a lovely program. They arrange much of their repertoire, drawing inspiration from all genres. The duo has performed around the world including in India, Nepal, New Zealand, Australia and the U.S. That broad experience has generated the comfort and confidence to create an engaging, conversational concert experience.

Program highlights include "Libertango," "Gretchen am Spinnrade," "Pray You Catch Me," "Seven Popular Songs," "Blackbird," "Eleanor Rigby," "Shenandoah," "Two Part Inventions," "Arabesque," "Human Nature" and "Bachiana Brasilieras No. 5."
