Boys and girls Intercity Basketball Tournaments to be held at Illinois Wesleyan
BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Wesleyan's Dennie Bridges Court at Shirk Center will be a one-stop shop for Intercity Tournament high school basketball later this month.
Intercity athletic directors announced Wednesday that all Intercity Tournament games — boys and girls — will be played at Shirk Center through a sponsorship with State Farm.
Therefore, the tournament has been rebranded the State Farm Bloomington-Normal Intercity Basketball Tournament.
"We are incredibly excited to host this event and showcase our talented Intercity athletes in such a dynamic format," Bloomington athletic director Tony Bauman said.
"Having State Farm as our title sponsor enhances the event's reach and impact, and we are grateful for their support in making this a landmark occasion for our schools and community."
The boys tournament has previously been held at Shirk Center, while the girls portion has alternated between Intercity high schools.
"State Farm aims to consistently make a difference in the communities we serve," said State Farm president and CEO Jon Farney. "We are proud to sponsor the inaugural Girls and Boys Intercity Tournament here in our hometown.
Action begins on Nov. 23 and 25 with two girls games at 6:30 and 8 p.m.
Nov. 27, 29 and 30 will feature four games (girls and boys) with start times of 2:30, 4, 5:30 and 7 p.m.
The boys tournament concludes with 6:30 and 8 p.m. games Dec. 2.
