Breaking news: Raiders fire Luke Getsy, Rich Scangarello, James Cregg

The Las Vegas Raiders have fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy after Sunday's Week 9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals . The team has also decided to part ways with other members of the offensive coaching staff, too, as quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello and offensive line coach James Cregg were let go. Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said the decision was "100% his."

Who is the new offensive coordinator for the Raiders? Pierce told reporters Monday morning that he has not decided on who will take over offensive play-calling duties yet, nor has he decided on a starting quarterback. Passing game coordinator Scott Turner seems like the most logical choice seeing as he has experience in the position, serving as the Washington Commander's play-caller from 20220 to 2022.

The Raiders have two weeks until their next game as they are on a bye this coming weekend.

Why did the Raiders fire offensive coordinator Luke Getsy? This move doesn't come as much of a surprise as The Athletic's Vic Tafur mentioned that Getsy could get fired after the game with the Raiders' bye week coming up this week. Calls for Getsy's firing were getting louder last week , as well.

While Getsy was just hired this offseason , Las Vegas' offense ranked 26th in points per game heading into this weekend and the unit's 17-point performance on Sunday didn't move the needle. The Raiders scored 24 points against the Bengals, but seven points came via a Jack Jones pick-six and one of the offense's two touchdowns came in garbage time.
