Broncos route Browns at home to move to 6-5 on the year

That is five wins in a row and a winning record heading into December. The Denver Broncos are riding high now!

In a game that was much closer than it appeared late, but an injury to Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson turned the tide in Denver’s favor in the fourth quarter. Denver turned the heat up on defense with P.J. Walker in at quarterback and racked up three total turnovers and a safety in this game as Denver rolled to a 29-12 win to move to 6-5 on the year.

The drive was helped along by a critical third down pass interference call on Courtland Sutton and then another third down pass on a deep crosser to Sutton that setup a three-yard plunge into the end zone by Samaje Perine.

— MileHighReport November 26, 2023 On their ensuing drive, the Browns faced a critical fourth and inches from midfield but fumbled the snap where Denver was able to recover for their 13th turnover in the last 3+ games. The Broncos were unable to capitalize due to a Russell Wilson fumble on a fourth down conversion within field goal range, but the Broncos defense forced a three-and-out on the Browns next possession anyway.

The first quarter would end with the Broncos offense driving into Browns territory for the third time in this game.

Second Quarter With the ball near midfield to start the second quarter, the Broncos needed more third down magic from Russell Wilson to keep things going. A dart to Marvin Mims Jr. in the middle of the field to convert a third and eight. Then Wilson would turn to trickery on a 19-yard run after a fake handoff inside. He would then keep it himself again and dive into the end zone from three yards out to put Denver up 14-0.

— MileHighReport November 26, 2023 After that touchdown, however, the Broncos offense began to falter and the Broncos defense began to get run on by the Browns. Denver’s defense would bend, but not break though and held Cleveland to two field goals before halftime.

Third Quarter The third quarter would begin with your typical three-and-out by the Broncos. They now have started the second half with a three-and-out six times this year. The Browns would turn that into a clock-eating touchdown drive to cut the lead to two, but the Broncos would wake up a bit and come back with a field goal of their own to keep the lead more than a field goal advantage for Denver heading into the final quarter.

The quarter would end with one of the worst calls of the year. This “roughing the passer” call on Baron Browning.

Fourth Quarter With PJ Walker in the game, the Browns tried to run a reverse and they fumbled right in front of D.J. Jones who recovered deep in Browns territory.

— MileHighReport November 26, 2023 After a nice run by Marvin Mims Jr. to get Denver into a first and goal opportunity, they were faced with a third and goal from the eight. After scrambling around and buying time, Wilson found Adam Trautman in the end zone for what looked like a clear touchdown. It was ruled incomplete, but after review it was overturned to give Denver a two-score lead in the fourth quarter.

— MileHighReport November 26, 2023 With Dorian Thompson-Robinson out of the game, the Broncos defense pinned their ears back on P.J. Walker and forced a quick three-and-out on Cleveland. After yet another turnover on the Browns next drive, Denver’s 15th in a four game span the most since 1989, the Broncos got another drive going from there behind a Wilson deep-shot to Sutton on a third down.

On a fourth and two in field goal range, the Broncos thought about going for it but opted to kick a field goal to make it a two touchdown game with a little over four minutes to go. They would add another safety late as they closed out this dominating win at home to move to 6-5.
