Sports Browns Had NFL's Fastest Ball Carrier in Week 2

The Cleveland Browns were able to pick up their first win of 2024 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2. While the offense was only able to get into the end zone once, they showed a lot more promise compared to in Week 1.

The team was also missing their two starting offensive tackles in Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills. Despite this, though, Cleveland actually had the NFL's fastest ball carrier in the win.

According to NFL's Next Gen Stats, running back Jerome Ford was the fastest ball carrier in the league in Week 2, as he reached a top speed of 21.29 miles-per-hour on his 36-yard run in the second quarter. Not only was this the top speed of any ball carrier in Week 2, but it was also the fastest among all running backs on any play so far this season.

Ford ended up finishing the game against Jacksonville with 64 rushing yards on just seven carries for an average of 9.1 yards-per-carry. Clearly, even with the team's offensive line not being 100 percent, Ford has plenty of burst that the offense could use.

With the team hoping to get both Wills and Conklin back in the starting lineup in Week 3, and the team set to face the 0-2 New York Giants, Ford could have a huge day on the ground if Cleveland decides to give him more carries.

Ford has the potential to reach or surpass his top speed when the Browns host the Giants at 1 P.M. EST on Sunday.
