Browns offense has a chance to explode against Commanders bad defense

The Cleveland Browns are hopeful to start the second phase of their 2024 NFL season with a win. According to reports, the Browns will get TE David Njoku and OT Jed Wills back Sunday and could see OT Jack Conklin also return from injury.

With offensive line play, mostly due to injuries, being a huge story for Cleveland's offensive struggles, getting Wills and Conklin back will be helpful. Njoku has been a very good blocker as well and is a weapon in the passing game.

For QB Deshaun Watson and HC Kevin Stefanski, along with OC Ken Dorsey, Week 5 against the Washington Commanders creates a unique opportunity. The Browns reportedly still believe Watson is the right quarterback to get them where they want to go but Sunday is basically a must-win game.

While QB Jayden Daniels has been electric , but far from a one-man offense , thankfully, the Commanders defense has been bad so far this year:

Washington's defense has some talent up the middle with DTs Daron Payne Jonathan Allen along with LBs Bobby WagnerFrankie Luvu but the above data does not lie.

For the Browns offense, limiting the interior defenders should allow them to take advantage of the rest of the defense. That will require Joel Bitonio, Ethan PocicZak Zinter (in place of Wyatt Teller) to handle things up front and, possibly, more outside running and more passing attack.

For Watson, Stefanski and Dorsey, Week 5 gives them a huge chance to change the narrative. For the Commanders, a moveable object meets a resistable force and they are hoping their weak link comes out on top.
