Buckshot, legendary rapper and Black Moon member, has broken his silence after footage of him being viciously assaulted in Brooklyn surfaced on social media.

The "Who Got Da Props" rapper, who was left hospitalized following the assault, issued a statement to AllHipHop expressing his appreciation for those who have offered their well-wishes. "To all my friends, fans, and supporters—thank you for reaching out during this difficult time," Buckshot began.

"Recently, I was the victim of a violent assault involving multiple individuals armed with weapons, including handguns. This attack stems from ongoing disputes over my property, where I am the rightful owner but have faced issues with unauthorized occupants who escalated the situation to violence."

The lyricist, who called for the community to band together in an effort to make New York "safer," voiced his disappointment that the assault occurred in the boroughs where he grew up and currently resides.

"As someone who's been an entertainer and part of this community for over 30 years, I am deeply disturbed that such an incident could happen in New York—a city I love and call home," he lamented. "Violence like this has no place here, and I'm calling on everyone to come together to make New York safer and better for all of us."

The 49-year-old continued, adding that he and his lawyers are working with local police to bring his attackers to justice. "I am currently recovering from my injuries and am working closely with my legal team and law enforcement to ensure this matter is handled properly," Buckshot said.

"We are committed to seeing justice served, and I ask for your patience and support as the legal process unfolds. Again, thank you for all the well wishes. Let's put an end to violence and help rebuild a stronger, safer New York."

According to reports, Buckshot was assaulted last Thursday (Oct. 31), in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. In a graphic clip that was shared on social media, the bloodied and bruised rapper can be seen hunched over on the ground following the attack.

At one point, Buckshot asks for someone to call an ambulance, with a bystander informing him that paramedics were on their way to the scene.

A native of Brooklyn, Buckshot made his debut alongside Black Moon on their 1993 album , Enta Da Stage, which produced the hit singles "How Many MC's...," "Buck Em Down (Remix)," and "I Got Cha Opin (Remix)."

The founder of the Boot Camp Clik, which introduced acts including Smif-N-Wessun, Heltah Skeltah, O.G.C., and more, Buckshot teamed up with longtime business partner Drew "Dru-Ha" Friedman to launch Duck Down Records during the mid-90s, which became one of the premier independent labels in Hip-Hop.
