Bucs, Maholm Make Phils Walk The Plank

PITTSBURGH — Paul Maholm tossed a two-hitter, Nate McLouth hit two home runs and Pittsburgh avoided a three-game sweep beating the Phillies 5-1.
Maholm (2-2) walked four and struck out two in his third career complete game. He improved to 2-0 in three starts at PNC Park this season and has allowed just two runs in 20 1-3 innings at home.
Both of Philadelphia’s hits came in the fifth inning. Pat Burrell doubled with one out and scored on Eric Bruntlett’s single to center.
Mets 6, Braves 3
NEW YORK — Carlos Delgado turned boos into a standing ovation with his first two-homer game in almost a year, leading the Mets to the win.
New York knocked out John Smoltz after four innings in his first shaky outing of the season and got a three-hit game from backup catcher Raul Casanova.
Nelson Figueroa (2-1) went 5 1-3 innings for the Mets and was charged with three runs and seven hits. Billy Wagner pitched the ninth for his sixth save.
Diamondbacks 2, Padres 1
SAN DIEGO — Brandon Webb outpitched Jake Peavy in a battle of the last two NL Cy Young Award winners, leading Arizona.
Webb (6-0), the 2006 Cy Young winner, allowed just one unearned run and twice escaped bases-loaded jams before leaving after six innings. He became the first six-game winner in the majors and lowered his ERA to 1.98.
Peavy and two relievers held the Diamondbacks to four hits.
Cardinals 5, Astros 1
ST. LOUIS — Troy Glaus hit his first home run with St. Louis and Albert Pujols also went deep.
Kyle Lohse (3-0) went six innings for St. Louis, giving up four hits and one run. Kyle McClellan pitched three perfect innings for his first career save.
Marlins 3, Brewers 2, 10 innings
MILWAUKEE — Wes Helms came through in just his fourth start of the year, leading off the 10th inning with a home run to lift Florida to the win.
Nationals 2, Cubs 0
WASHINGTON — John Lannan pitched four-hit ball for seven innings and Wily Mo Pena and Wil Nieves had back-to-back RBI singles in the second for the Nationals.
Reds 10, Giants 1
SAN FRANCISCO — Edinson Volquez struck out a career-high 10 in seven innings, Brandon Phillips homered twice and Cincinnati roughed up Barry Zito.
Volquez (4-0) allowed one run and five hits to win his third consecutive start.
Dodgers 3, Rockies 2, 10 innings
LOS ANGELES — James Loney singled home the winning run in the 10th inning as the Dodgers completed a three-game sweep of the NL champions.
