SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — Newly elected Caddo Sheriff Henry Whitehorn is looking to add some new faces to his team.

The Sheriff's Office is hiring to fill several different positions with some new hiring incentives for those who apply.

"What we're trying to do is recruit individuals for our positions that we have available," said Peter Williams, human resources director.

The Sheriff's Office is trying to fill 79 positions.

"The largest ones that we are trying to fill right now are our correctional officers. And from the corrections officers they have the opportunity to go in different places," Williams explained.

"We also have RN positions available and LPN positions available as well as in our food service area."

The Sheriff's Office also is rolling out some new incentives.

"Well, we've been working with a group here, the media group. We think that it's going to provide a different platform. Media that we haven't done before, so we think that it is something unique and, hopefully, will help us again attract the kind of individuals we want for our organization," Williams said.

The incentives include more money for new hires.

"We don't have an exact amount of what the increases look like," Williams said. "The sheriff has been looking at potential increases because we recognize as an employer of choice we have to be competitive in the marketplace."

Otherwise, the new hiring incentives already are in place.

Anyone can apply on the Sheriff's Office website or in person is you lack access to a computer.
