Caltrans to close Yolo Causeway ramp to I-80 for construction this weekend

(FOX40.COM) — Yet another weekend full closure of a key highway ramp is coming to the Sacramento area.

According to Caltrans, the eastbound connector from the Yolo Causeway to eastbound I-80 will be closed from Friday night until Monday morning as crews construct approach slabs, which help connect roadway pavement to a bridge.

The closure will start at 9 p.m. on Friday and continue until 4 a.m. on Monday. During that time, the speed limit along the stretch will be lowered to 55 miles per hour, Caltrans said.

The work is part of Caltrans' Yolo I-80 Pavement Rehabilitation Project.

The connector is all part of I-80, but the work will be on a stretch that is immediately eastbound from where the highway splits into I-80 and Highway 50.

Drivers heading from Davis to West Sacramento will not be able to continue on I-80 towards Natomas. Instead, they'll have to start their detour in Davis or use a detour through central West Sacramento or central Sacramento.

For drivers heading from Davis toward the Sierra Nevada, they'll have to detour to north Highway 113, exit onto eastbound Main St. in Woodland and merge onto southbound I-5 until reaching eastbound I-80 again.

Another detour would be to continue east onto Highway 50, merge onto northbound I-5 and eventually reach eastbound I-80.
