Cambria County Halloween display helps raise money for service dog training organization

Service dogs work important jobs, but the training can cost a lot of time and money.

One Cambria County man is using the Halloween season to help that cause.

An elaborate Halloween display in Richland was created by Ben Smith and his brother-in-law, and they're using it to help raise money for Canine Partners for Life.

The organization trains service dogs for various specialized jobs in the area, such as police work or rescue crews.

Service dogs, like Shannon, were also in the spotlight of the Halloween display.

Shannon is a service dog working at the Somerset County Prison.

"Raising money for the dogs is the big thing but me and my brother-in-law love Halloween. So, we put this on for the community and all the kids and people drive by and they enjoy seeing the Halloween decorations we put on," Smith says.

According to Smith, community members offered money in previous years to support the extravagant Halloween displays they created.

This year, Smith says he is accepting donations, but 100% of proceeds are reportedly going to support Canine Partners for Life.

A QR code is visible at the display, which will allow visitors to donate to the cause.

You can find the spooky décor at 404 Luther Road in Richland Township.
