Camilla Luddington Claims Reality Star Stole Her Baby Name
Grey's Anatomy star Camilla Luddington had her baby name picked out — but ultimately didn't use the moniker after someone else stole it.
"I had one name that I absolutely loved forever, Matt [Alan] really liked it for a girl too," Luddington, 40, said on the Thursday, November 7, episode of her and costar Jessica Capshaw's "Call It What It Is" podcast. "My ex-boyfriend, my high school sweetheart that I had been with for a really long time — like, after college, we moved to Los Angeles together — ended up cheating on me with a pretty famous reality star that is still around."
Without naming the celeb, Luddington said that people would "definitely know her name." The star ultimately ended up giving her daughter the same moniker Luddington had been saving for a couple years before becoming pregnant.
"I can't say it because it's kind of an unusual name, like if I said the name, Google would find it in two seconds," Luddington said. "So it ruined it for me, though. And then I kind of was like, 'Who cares? It doesn't matter. You can just still name [her].'"
Ultimately, Luddington chose to name her daughter something else. However, Luddington thinks the name could've "suited" her eldest child "maybe a little more."
"I did feel like my baby name was stolen," Luddington said. "Without this person knowing."
Luddington and Alan welcomed their first child , daughter Hayden, in April 2017. "We have a new great love in our lives, our sweet baby girl, Hayden," she wrote via Instagram.
Two years later, Luddington and Alan tied the knot. Luddington, who has been with Alan since 2008, announced in 2020 that she was expecting their second baby .
"Me: 'I'm just gonna do a super casual pregnancy announcement.' Also me: 'I NEED PRINCESSES!!!!!!'" she wrote via Instagram at the time. "OK so ... Matt and I are so happy to fiiiiinally post after months of 'hiding' that I am pregnant! We are beyond excited to add to our little family and give Hayden a sibling."
She continued, "Yes, I've been away a lot from social media the past few months because OMGGGG the exhaustion and OMGGGGGG the morning (read: alllllll day) sickness. Oh the glamor of growing new humans. But in all seriousness, we feel so lucky and I can't wait to bring you guys along for the remaining months of this baby #2 journey!! Shout out to the one and only Cinderella for helping me with this pic yesterday."
The pair welcomed their second child , son Lucas, later that year. "After what felt like a year long third trimester ... it finally happened!!" she wrote via Instagram at the time. "Matt and I are SOOO happy to announce the birth of our sweet baby BOY Lucas, otherwise known as my little lion (shoutout to Leo's!)."
