Campus police skip shaving this month in support of WSU student pantry
DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Wright State Police recently donated over $1700 of food to the Raider Food Pantry.
In many counties, as many as one in four children face food insecurity. This is even true on a collegiate level.
That's what drives the department's "No Shave November" initiative to grow their beads for a month each year. This year's "best beard" says that students can't do their best if they're hungry.

"You know that anyone that's living with any type of hunger at varying degrees, is going to come with insecurities as far as, their, their academic success. No one's going to be studying as well if they're hungry versus not hungry and then having to worry on the back end of where that actually was coming from," said Stefan Kempf, Wright State University Department of Public Safety.
Over the last five years, Wright State Police have raised nearly $20,000 during No Shave November. Those funds are used to purchase nonperishable goods for the pantry.
The pantry serves around 100 Wright State students each month.
