COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - It's a historic rivalry 49 years in the making.

"It's just so exciting because I feel so blessed I even got to participate these last 4 years and I'm just so excited it's our last time. It's going to be the best time we have an awesome theme, an awesome team, obviously the Eastside is going to win forever cannon booms gold," said Ysabelle Rosales, an East senior dancer at the annual Rally at the Rotunda.

Rosales has no doubt the Eagles will fly their way to victory. But Delaney Doverspike, a senior who grew up rooting for South is certain the Colts are going to repeat this year.

"This is my last game it's sad but it just means everything, this is the heart of our school this is the heart of our town ... well obviously it's a Colt win," Doverspike said.

As for the senior football players who get one final opportunity to play in this game, they also shared why this game matters so much to them ahead of kickoff.

"It means the whole world not just to me, everyone in the locker room our coaches obviously it means a lot to us but also the community as well Eastside looks up to this game or older ones who played in this game its a big sense of pride bringing the cannon home," East senior running back Isaish Garcia said.

"I'm proud of our seniors they put four long years into our program that's a lot of hard work and determination ... you get one of these a year at this level it's a lot of fun so go out and enjoy it have a blast," South head coach Ryan Goddard said.

The game kicks off at 7pm at Dutch Clark stadium. We will have the highlights on Friday Night Endzone at 10pm.
