B.Lee1 days ago
CANTON ( 25News Now ) - A Canton resident was treated for smoke inhalation after a kitchen fire Thursday night.

The Canton Fire Department says firefighters were called around 7 p.m. to a home in the 100 block of South Sixth Avenue.

They determined the original fire was out but several hotspots remained and smoke would need to be exhausted from the home.

All off-duty Canton firefighters were called to either respond to the scene or to staff quarters.

The hotspots were cooled and firefighters were on scene to overhaul the area involved in the fire, check for extension, remove smoke and investigate the fire's origin and cause.

The fire department also says a firefighter was treated and released after suffering a minor injury.

Damage is estimated at $10,000.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
