Car crashes into fire hydrant causing flood in Rockville

ROCKVILLE, Md. ( DC News Now ) — A car hit a fire hydrant causing flooding to a road in Rockville Tuesday evening, officials said.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson, Pete Piringer, said that a car struck a fire hydrant at 4500 Bel Pre Road at around 5:30 p.m.

Piringer said the fire hydrant was "sheared off" causing the road to flood.

As a result, the road was damaged and some lanes were blocked up.

The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.
