SHREVEPORT, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) – The principal of a school in Webster Parish recently met with students at an LSU Shreveport job fair about using their bachelor's degrees in any subject to become teachers in Louisiana. Cortney McCall is the principal of Brown Upper Elementary School, and she says you don't need a degree in education to start your journey as a teacher. "We have teacher prep programs that can accept graduates with any major," said McCall. McCall spoke to students at LSU Shreveport's Career and Internship Fair on Nov. 13. Students also had the opportunity to explore other options for soon-to-be LSU Shreveport graduates. Nearly 50 informational tables and booths were at the career and internship fair, where students also met with potential employers from hospitals, mental health care centers and hospices, casinos, professional educators, manufacturers, law enforcement representatives from Louisiana and Texas, and officials with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. The fair attracted around 200 students and was held at the LSUS Ballroom.
