Cathedral of Saint Paul details its annual Christmas market and concerts
The Cathedral of Saint Paul will bring seasonal cheer to St. Paul in December with its weekend-long Cathedral Christmas Market & Concerts on Dec. 12–14.
The market will be open from 5–9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday. In addition to local vendors, the festive event will feature the eighth annual series of "Christmas Together" concerts from Steven C. Anderson, who performs as Steven C.
"The European grandeur of the Cathedral provides a fitting setting for the charming centuries-old custom of a Christmas market," Rev. Joseph R. Johnson, Rector of the Cathedral of Saint Paul, said in a statement.
While admission to the market is free, concert tickets range from $12 to $100 with performances at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and an 11 a.m. matinee concert on Saturday.
This year's performance will include a new piece from composter Adi Yeshaya, commissioned by Steven C. The new work, "Cathedral Christmas Fanfare," was written for piano and organ as a tribute to Steven C's annual Cathedral appearances.
The market offers the opportunity to purchase holiday wares but also provides a festive atmosphere with pine boughs and Christmas lights under the Cathedral's stained glass windows. Food, beer, and Glüwein will be served as well.
Proceeds from the event go toward restoring the Cathedral, an iconic landmark of the city.
