Mrs. Catherine Smalley, Pittston, died Saturday morning following an
illness.
Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Catherine Lynch
Bannon. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, and its
Women’s Society. She attended St. John’s School and was a practical nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; son, John Anthony;
brothers, Martin and Emmet Bannon; and sister, Winifred McCarthy.
She is survived by daughter, Winifred Serfass and husband, Gregory;
daughter, Mary Ann Speece and husband, Roy, West Pittston; son, Joseph and
wife, Nina; son Patrick, Pittston; sister, Mary Bannon, Pittston; six
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the Ruane and Regan Funeral
Home, 18 Kennedy St., Pittston, with a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at
St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. Interment will be in Memorial Shrine
Cemetery, Carverton.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the
Evangelist Church, 35 William St., Pittston.
