The $3.2 million facility is a partnership between United Way and Community Works North Dakota. It opened in April 2023. It offers the only 24/7 homeless shelter in the community, as well as a community room with multiple computers, and private office space where people can receive onsite mental health services, health checkups, and trauma and addiction services.

The daily tours at 12:15 p.m. Monday through Friday are being held in conjunction with Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week . United Way also is hosting a winter hat, scarves and gloves drive, with donation drop-offs at the Center for Opportunity and the MSA United Way office at 515 N. Fourth St. A public "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" event is set for Tuesday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the center.
