Century High to host multilingual learning book launch, panel discussion

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Natalia Alvarez Benjamin, a local Rochester educator and Michelle Benegas, an associate professor for Hamline University, is launching their co-authored book titled "Language of Identity, Language of Access: Liberatory Learning for Multilingual Classrooms."

The book launch will be happening at Century High School on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m., and will feature panel discussions from other educators and authors, including alumni from the Rochester Public School District (RPS)

Natalia is a Rochester educator who was awarded 2021 Minnesota Teacher of the Year. She is currently the Director of Multilingual Learning for RPS.

Michelle is an associate professor of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Hamline University in St. Paul.

All proceeds from book sales will support " Empowered to Succeed, " a mentorship program for students new to America.
