CFP rankings: Alabama doesn’t move in College Football Playoff top 25 after win

The College Football Playoff top 25 rankings were updated once again on Tuesday, and Alabama remained No. 8 for the fourth consecutive week. The Crimson Tide continues to rank one spot behind Texas, which beat UA in Tuscaloosa in Week 2.

Oregon remained the highest-ranked one-loss team in the country at No. 6. The Ducks do not have a top 25 win after Utah fell out of the rankings this week.

Georgia held onto the No. 1 ranking this week. The Bulldogs were followed by Ohio State, Michigan and Washington.

The Huskies moved up a spot after beating Oregon State on the road. Florida State slipped to No. 5 after losing quarterback Jordan Travis for the season with a leg injury.

Alabama will almost certainly need to win out in order to make the CFP this season. No team with two losses has ever made the final field of four.

Alabama handled its business on Saturday in a game that will likely not help its playoff standing against Chattanooga. UA moved to 10-1 on the season and remained 7-0 in SEC play with the victory.

The Crimson Tide travels to Auburn this week for a resumption of hostilities in the Iron Bowl. The Tigers, having just lost to New Mexico State, will likely not provided much of a playoff boost, but a loss would doom the chances of Nick Saban and company.

After the Auburn game, Alabama heads to Atlanta for an SEC championship game with Georgia. The Bulldogs face Georgia Tech this week.

Alabama and Auburn are scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. The game will be aired on CBS.
