E.Chen23 min ago
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Alachua County Supervisor of Elections reported all precincts reporting with Chad Scott, a Democrat, narrowly edging out incumbent Sheriff Emery Gainey, a Republican, by less than 400 votes on Tuesday night. The difference could result in a recount. The elections office still needed to process some outstanding mail-in ballots. Pamela Marshall-Koons, an independent, received about 6 percent of the vote. Chad Scott declared victory but acknowledged the likelihood of a recount. The canvassing board met to evaluate the race. "I am ready for this position and I've been heading that way for a long time," said Scott. I always tell people when it comes to Chad Scott nothing is ever easy it's always hard work my whole life, you know going into this I just want people to understand that you should never give up."
