Chapel Hill coach believes Carthage is ‘definitely the best team we’ve faced so far’

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The Chapel Hill Bulldogs are 3-0 this season, but their last two games have come down to the final plays.

Head Coach Jeff Riordan is proud of his team's effort, but is not a fan of the close ballgames.

"Not good for my heart," said Riordan. "But, it's good for our kids to have to battle that adversity and still be successful."

Riordan also understands that with the recent success of the Chapel Hill program, they have a target on their back.

"You know, week in and week out, we're getting everybody's best," Riordan said. "We definitely know we've got a target on our back."

Chapel Hill has wins over Jasper, Gilmer and Whitehouse, but Riordan believes his team's toughest test of the season is on Friday.

"We've got the Carthage Bulldogs coming into town this week, and all they do is win state championships," said Riordan. "It's definitely the best team we've faced so far."

Chapel Hill and Carthage will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday from Bulldog Stadium at Chapel Hill.
