Charli XCX impersonated Adele in a humorous skit as she took on double duty as the host and musical guest during the latest episode of Saturday Night Live . The Boom Clap singer, 32 - who was recently nominated for seven Grammy awards - sent fans wild as they applauded the British-born star's comedic skills as she appeared in a variety of sketches. Charli - whose full name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison - had the chance to step into the shoes of the Someone Like You hitmaker during a Wicked audition skit. SNL comedians portrayed a number of different celebrities who had auditioned for a role in the musical adaptation in 'never-before-seen screen tests.' At one point, Charli stepped out in front of the camera wearing a black velvet dress - similar to an ensemble that Adele has worn during her Las Vegas residency. A voiceover could be heard saying, 'Okay, testing for Elphaba, Adele.' 'Adele' then asked while holding a microphone, 'Hello, can I take my shoes off?' before saying, 'Okay, wicked. Oh my God, I said the name of the bloody movie! Shut up, that's f***ing funny.' The screen test suddenly came to an end before other celebrity screen tests were shown. Charli XCX and Troye Sivan also auditioned in the skit, with Bowen Yang portraying Charli and the British songstress playing Sivan. Yang wore a long, black wig as well as a black dress and shades while the singer simply wore a white tank top and blue pants. 'Can I call you Elfie?' Bowen asked Charli, who simply responded in a monotone voice, 'No.' Yang then continued, 'I only bullied you because I'm a b***h and you're a witch. I'm confused,' with the Charli saying, 'I'm not a witch. I'm a top.' Other celebrities that had auditioned in the skit included author Fran Lebowitz who said, 'Pretend it's an emerald city. It's an emerald city but it's a yellow brick road. Say, ding dong the witch is dead. What are you, a doorbell?' Sydney Sweeney - played by Chloe Fineman - expressed while laughing, 'Hi, are you like a wizard or whatever?' Jojo Siwa - played by Fineman - sported a black bodysuit as well as dramatic face makeup as she sang some lyrics to Popular and then added, 'I'm still a bad girl.' Martha Stewart, Leslie Mann, Al Pacino and Bernie Sanders were other stars that appeared in the never-before-seen screentests for Wicked. Charli XCX was also applauded for her opening monologue which kicked off the episode during the sketch comedy's 50th season. The singer stepped out onto the stage wearing a figure-hugging, shimmering silver and black dress. She was greeted by cheers from the live audience and the beauty sent her gratitude to the crowd. Charli then joked, 'If you recognize me, you might know me from my album Brat. But don't worry if you don't, there is nothing wrong with being straight.' The star recalled starting her music career and how she convinced her parents to drive her to rave at 15 so she could perform. 'And if you're wondering, how did I get my parents to drive me to a rave? Well, I just told them, "Guys, I've got swim practice. At 2:00 A.M. In a warehouse full of gays."' 'No, seriously, I've come a long way. And today I consider myself to be a triple threat. Which in England means I sing, I drink, and I smoke,' she joked. Charli then gave a special shout out to 'someone who's been there for me my entire career: auto tune.' 'Auto tune makes everything sound better. Even really bad news like this. Watch,' she said as she began to sing into a microphone. '"I'm breaking up with you 'cause I'm trying to hook up with your dad."' Earlier this year, Charli ignited the Brat summer trend and she told the audience, 'I have to say, brat summer has been a crazy experience.' 'So many people have asked me, what is brat? Honestly, it's just like an attitude. It's a vibe.' The singer explained, 'For example, the new Martha Stewart documentary. When Martha gets mad about an old magazine and she says that she's glad the one who wrote it is dead, that is brat.' 'Last Friday when that exact journalist responded and said, "Hey, I'm alive, b***h!" That is extremely brat.' Comedian Kyle Mooney then made a cameo appearance as he stepped onto the stage during Charli's opening monologue. He previously starred on the sketch series from 2013 through 2022. After asking him a few questions, Mooney asked if he was 'brat' and Charli simply replied with, 'No.' In conclusion, she admitted that hosting SNL was a 'dream come true' and humorously added, 'And I'm not used to being out this early on a Saturday night. But for you guys, it's worth it.' The viral Domingo skit was brought back during the latest episode and took place at a baby show for Kelsey - played by Chloe Fineman. Charli played Kelsey's cousin - who had just finished a stint at rehab. While standing in front of the guests, the cousin invited Kelsey's close friends to join her so they can perform a song to the tune of Chappell Roan's track Hot To Go. The British singer confidently showcased an American accent as the group sang lyrics about a recent trip they had to Miami. Kelsey's cousin and her pals sang about her they had a blast at a spa but Kelsey had been on her phone. However, they knew who she was talking to and spelled out the name Domingo because she had also told him her pregnancy news. Andrew Dismukes - who played Kelsey's husband - was also at the baby shower and asked in a concern, 'Wait, what happened?' His wife replied, 'Oh my God, babe, just listen to the whole song before you make, like, a snap judgment.' But he complained, 'Okay, well the song just started and we're already at pregnant news.' The group began singing more lyrics how Kelsey is only 90% certain that Domingo is not the father of her baby. Towards the end of the performance, it was revealed that Kelsey found out the paternity and that she is expecting twins. 'The doctor says it is twins and one is Matthew's and one is Domingo's,' they sang. Kelsey's husband pointed out that it was 'biologically impossible' but Kelsey said that 'miracles happen every day.' Domingo suddenly showed up at the baby shower and sang, 'Hey my brother aren't you happy, hearing from Domingo we both are daddies, Domingo gonna be in your life forever, we'll raise our babies in Miami together!' During the night, social media users shared their thoughts on X over Charli's comedic skills as she took on hosting duties on SNL for the first time. While some gushed over her monologue towards the start of the episode, others applauded her acting in the sketches. One fan typed, 'The way Charli XCX just ate that monologue,' while another added, 'Loving the energy of Charli xcx in the Domingo sequel sketch, Chappell Roan's HOT TO GO! is the perfect addition.' 'Charli xcx killed her monologue #SNL,' one X user shared, while another typed out, Charli xcx's monologue was funny icl #SNL.' One social media user wrote, 'Charli XCX is killing it on #SNL right now,' while another shared, 'this is peak.' 'Charli XCX might actually be a funnier #SNL host than Ariana Grande which is unexpected,' a fan typed. One referenced her auto tune joke and shared, 'Haha, Charli XCX, keeping it real and humorous! Auto tune has indeed been a notably ally for many in the music industry.' Later in the night, Charli showed off her vocal skills as she appeared alongside Andy Samberg in a digital short. The former SNL star portrayed a person who enjoys snitching on his neighbors by calling the cops on them. Some of the lyrics he belted out included, 'A special passion of mine I do it every chance that I find, so next time you walk past and throw away your trash, I'll pick up the phone.' 'And then do what I do best, now here I go I'ma report you to the cops, here I go I'ma report you to the cops, and all my neighbors think I'm right, I've been itching to do some snitchin.' Charli - who sported a blonde wig - portrayed Andy's wife in the pre-recorded sketch and sported a variety of chic look as she also embraced her passion for snitching on the neighbors. At one point, she humorously sang, 'I literally dare you to park within two centimeters of my driveway b****.' 'We have no one like you to show up the way we do, when I get my binoculars on the front lawn I saw you looking, have fun at central booking, now here I go I'm reporting you to the cops.' As Samberg and Charli continued to sing the tune, the pair performed choreography in the street of their neighborhood. The songstress flaunted her toned frame wearing a red bralette top as well as a pair of matching, mini shorts.
