CHARLOTTE, N.C. () — The Charlotte 49ers are parting ways with head football coach Biff Poggi, sources confirmed with Charlotte Sports Live Monday.

Poggi was fired two days after the 49ers' fourth straight loss Saturday when they fell 59-24 to South Florida. He went 6-16 over two seasons in Charlotte.

After a 55-24 win over in-state rival East Carolina on Oct. 5, the 49ers have lost four in a row, with three of them coming by at least 30 points.

Known for his off-beat personality — and wardrobe — Poggi arrived in Charlotte after serving as an assistant with Michigan under Jim Harbaugh, and previously built Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, into a national prep power.

Charlotte has two games remaining on its schedule, including a home game against UAB in its finale on Nov. 30.

According to USA Today, Poggi's base salary is $1 million a year. He was the third head coach in program history, succeeding Will Healy who compiled a 15–24 record in five seasons.
