CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Charlotte Motor Speedway brought back its hurricane relief drive.

One big change this time — organizers requested people drop off more cold weather-related items.

Organizers were seeking much-needed items like blankets, winter coats, gloves and even working generators and gas-powered chainsaws.

Conditions in western North Carolina are getting colder and while a lot of people have their power back on, many are still living in chilly conditions.

The donation drive lasted until 8 p.m. Wednesday. The relief supplies will be trucked to the North Wilkesboro Speedway to be distributed to officials representing the hard-hit areas of WNC.
