Cheerleaders are forced to shelter from dangerous incident at Alabama-LSU game

There was another trash-throwing incident in college football, with LSU's cheerleaders being the ones in danger this time, being forced to shelter during a game against Alabama .

In the middle of a third quarter in the blowout loss to the Crimson Tide on Saturday, LSU got a third-down sack of Jalen Milroe, only for a facemask penalty to be called on the Tigers as the quarterback was headed to the turf.

Instead of Alabama's offense coming off the field and a comeback possibly starting in what was a de-facto College Football Playoff eliminator, as both teams have two losses, the Crimson Tide used the penalty to find the end zone and extend their lead a few minutes later.

Knowing the penalty doomed the Tigers' chances in the game, and ended their national-championship dreams, LSU fans threw trash on the field to protest the call.

Cheerleaders nearest to the trash-throwing fans were forced to hide their heads and shelter to not get hit with debris flying to the turf. ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit immediately tore into fans for the latest impromptu on-field clean-up.

'So idiots do this in Texas, and now all of a sudden, we see it popping up in college football,' Herbstreit said. 'Enough's enough, clowns. What are you doing?'

'This is just stupid. Just embarrassing to LSU. Embarrassing to college football and... just around the country. Enough's enough.'

As the stadium's public address announcer said multiple times to 'stop throwing debris on the field', more water bottles can be seen landing in an LSU end zone.

The trend of throwing trash on the field began last month during Georgia's win over Texas. When Longhorns' fans did not like a call, they threw an obscene amount of trash on the field in protest.

Officials in Austin did change the call after the trash was thrown, giving the impression of caving to peer pressure instead of reversing a wrong decision.

A similar incident occurred last week during Clemson's loss to Louisville and earlier on Saturday, when Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire yelled at fans to stop throwing things on the field during the Red Raiders game against Colorado.

In every trash-throwing incident, the home team whose fans have not disposed of their trash in the proper way have gone on to lose the game.
