Tributes have been paid to a "cherished" mother and grandmother who has died following a crash between a car and a van.

Carol-Anne Rimini, 60, was a passenger in a car involved in a collision on the A6 Wilstead Hill , at Haynes near Bedford, at about 17:00 GMT on Saturday.

Ms Rimini, from St Neots in Cambridgeshire, was pronounced dead at the scene and a number of people suffered minor injuries.

In a statement, released via Bedfordshire Police, her family said she would be remembered for her "warmth, strength and generosity".

Ms Rimini, who lived in Eaton Socon, was a passenger in a red MG ZS that collided with a Volkswagen Transporter between 17:00 and 17:20, the force said.

"The whole family is deeply saddened by this heart-breaking, tragic event", the statement said.

"My mum was a well-loved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and cherished member of the community, remembered for her warmth, strength, and generosity.

"Carol will be missed deeply by everyone that knew her."

Police appealed for anyone who was travelling along the A6 and saw what happened, or has dashcam footage, to get in touch.
