Child struck by Wyandotte County deputy’s vehicle near Arrowhead Middle School

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A child is recovering after being struck by a Wyandotte County Sheriff's vehicle Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 8 a.m. in the area of N. 82nd Street and Wood Avenue, near Arrowhead Middle School.

According to Kansas City, Kansas police, the victim and another person were walking down the sidewalk going to school when the victim stepped off the sidewalk into the path of an unmarked Wyandotte County Sheriff's vehicle.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

KCKPD says the victim was not in a crosswalk.

The incident is under investigation by KCKPD who says everyone involved, including any witnesses, are cooperating with the investigation.
