The Bay Area was shining even brighter on Tuesday night as Klay Thompson returned to his 'former' home. Fans welcomed the 34-year-old in their captain's hats, teary-eyed, as they witnessed the iconic Splash Bros reunite once again. The ex-Warrior was welcomed with an emotional video featuring his journey with the Bay, a legacy he helped build. But not everyone was moved by the heartfelt gesture. Amid the tears and cheers, some couldn't help but question the tribute, leaving the emotional reunion with a bittersweet edge.

On the 'It Is What It Is' pod , Ma$e shared mixed feelings about Klay's homecoming celebration. Describing it as a "mixed emotion," the host made an unexpected comparison. "It's almost like when your ex tries to congratulate you after putting you on child support," he remarked.

He didn't stop there. Reflecting on the way things ended between Klay and the Warriors, Ma$e pointed out that it was hard to figure out how to react to the gesture that the San Francisco side showcased. The popular rapper felt that Thompson was in a "weird" position in the Bay Area, which made him question, "I don't know if that's really like you're really excited about that. You don't know how to take it. How do you take appreciation from somebody who dumped you?"

Despite the complicated situation, Ma$e quickly acknowledged the positive side. "I'm glad to know that this is what it took for Klay to start shooting again," he said, expressing his excitement to see the 4x Champ's 3-point shooting skills back in form. "He was almost 50% from the 3, and that's what we needed to see," Ma$e claimed, welcoming back the 3p specialist and admitting how happy he was to see Klay return to his old self!

He attempted 12 shots from beyond the arc, sinking 6 of them and finishing with 22 points to his name. The performance was undeniably impressive, but not enough to defeat his former team. As the game neared its climax, Stephen Curry 's phenomenal 3-pointer sealed the 120-117 victory for the Warriors. Following the loss, Klay spoke about his feelings and they weren't mixed ones.

Klay Thompson opens up about his homecoming and relays the 1 thing he will NEVER take for granted While talking to ESPN, Klay shared that he had prepared himself for the night and the emotions it would bring. Although he was on the verge of breaking down after receiving a standing ovation from the Chase Center crowd, he managed to hold back the tears. He had spoken to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green beforehand, asking them to skip their speeches, otherwise, the hoopster wouldn't have been able to stay composed.

However, he didn't forget to thank the fans for their respectful gesture. Calling the experience a "cool" one, Klay stated, "I appreciate the fans very much. The captain's hat ended up being a great touch because I'm such a passionate boater."

He also mentioned how heartwarming it was to see familiar faces in the crowd. "It was really cool to see the fans, their gratitude towards myself — and something I'll never take for granted. So it was very, very awesome," he added.

No matter how painful it is to see the Splash Brothers competing against each other, fans will have to accept the reality as they have moved forward and are adjusting to a new chapter in their lives.
