Chilli Studios supporting mental health through art in Newcastle

Chilli Studios is an arts charity that serves people experiencing mental health struggles or other forms of social exclusion. "This is a safe space for so many people," said studio manager Bob Malpiedi. "Chilli Studios is not one person, or two, or four, it's the whole collection of people here." The studio is at risk of needing to scale back its offering due to previous funding no longer being available, having already cut staff to reduce running costs. To raise funds, it is hosting a charity auction of members' works on Friday 11 October at Newcastle's Toffee Factory. Mr Malpiedi said: "Not having that port in a storm could lead to problems further down the line for individuals."
