Chilly Friday brings valley rain and mountain snow to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Happy Friday, Utah! We are starting the day off with chilly temps in the 20s and 30s. Look for partly sunny skies Friday with clouds thickening up Friday afternoon. Bottom Line?! Clouds increase Friday, with valley rain showers and mountain snow developing. Scattered valley rain showers and mountain snow showers will begin to develop late Friday afternoon into the evening hours. Friday night into Saturday morning, our storm system splits, but still impacts us with morning snow showers for most locations north of I-70 on Saturday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the northern Wasatch Mountains, and W. Uintas Friday afternoon through Saturday. Areas like the Cottonwoods will likely see four to eight inches of snowfall while most other mountain areas will see two to four inches. Valley snowfall is expected early Saturday morning with up to an inch possible. By Saturday afternoon, the snow tapers off, leaving highs around 10 degrees below normal. Sunday brings a brief break with cooler-than-normal temps before another cold system arrives. It is expected to bring additional snow, especially in northern Utah, though totals are expected to be light due to limited moisture. Southern Utah might dodge the chill depending on the system's track. By midweek, the cold moves out, and a big ridge builds over the West, bringing warmer, drier weather back to the state. Stay up-to-date on the latest 4Warn Weather forecasts both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah!
