CHN Housing Partners announces winter heating assistance for residents of 14 Cuyahoga County ZIP codes

CLEVELAND, Ohio - CHN Housing Partners is making changes to its winter crisis program after a reduction in funding. The local organization will now focus service for its HEAP Winter Crisis Program to a limited number of ZIP codes, the organization announced. HEAP, which will run from November through March, provides assistance to income-eligible Greater Cleveland residents with maintaining or restoring their utility services. The HEAP program will only focus on applicants in the following Cuyahoga County ZIP codes: 44102, 44106, 44108, 44109, 44110, 44113, 44117, 44119, 44120, 44123, 44125, 44132, 44135 and 44137. CHN said that eligible clients outside of these ZIP codes will be able to apply for services through its partner Step Forward, a community action agency. Some of the eligible circumstances include, eligible residents that are threatened with disconnection, have been disconnected or have less than 25% supply of bulk fuel in their tank, CHN said. It said that in limited situations, it can help pay for heating system repairs, assist with fuel tank placement and fuel tank testing. Eligible applicants must have a total household income at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Line and is open to both renters, and homeowners. That's about $26,350 for a single person, $35,700 for a couple and $54,600 for a family of four. Laura Boustani, vice president of external affairs at CHN said, that people with questions are encouraged to reach out to its call center representatives at its new number. CHN's assistance call center, which is staffed by the United Way of Greater Cleveland, has changed its number to 216-600-8108. Appointments can be scheduled with a live representative between 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is a self-service system when live representatives are unavailable.
