Citrus, Marion, Putnam counties under state of emergency ahead of Tropical Storm Milton

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Several North Central Florida counties were placed under a state of emergency by the state's governor Sunday afternoon.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced executive order number 24-214 placing 34 Florida counties under a state of emergency because the storm could become a major hurricane near or at landfall along the West Florida Coast by the middle of this week.

Among the counties are Marion, Putnam and Citrus.

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners declared a state of local emergency Sunday in anticipation of the potential for severe weather.
