City announces extension of temporary closure of Independence Bridge

BAY CITY, Mich. (WNEM) – The city of Bay City announced that the Independence Bridge's temporary closure, which began on Monday, Oct. 14 at 7 a.m., will be extended. Last week, Bay City Bridge Partners said the closure was expected to last through Oct. 18. Now, the city said the closure is expected to last through Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. An additional day is needed for paving and stripping, and the last part of the closure will allow for electrical hardware installation, the city said. Traffic will be routed to Veterans Memorial Bridge during this time.
