City of Houghton encourages all to fill out branding survey

HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - The City of Houghton is encouraging the community and beyond to take an 11-question branding survey.

The city is asking all to share their thoughts and opinions of the city. Questions on the survey include 'What are Houghton's greatest assets?' and 'How would you hope to describe Houghton five years from now?'

"Not just people that live here, but people who may have visited here, or their fans, or if their kids go to Tech," Houghton City Manager Eric Waara said. "It is to get those impressions from the public so we can take that data back and really boil it down and see if some commonalities pop up."

The city will use these answers to examine Houghton's reputation and impressions from others to better define its brand. Once a brand is determined, the city will use it to promote the city to new residents, future residents and businesses.

This rebranding process kicked off with a committee of the city's Planning Commission last summer.

"As part of our Master Planning process and moving forward in our Redevelopment Ready status with MEDC, this is one of those best practices that the city wants to follow," Waara continued.

Waara adds that the city is looking to close the survey in the first weeks of December, depending on engagement. People can take the survey by clicking here .
