MONROE, La. (KNOE)—The City of Monroe announced it is hosting a Safe Housing and Healthy Homes Program information session at the Public Safety Center on Thursday, Sept. 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

According to the City of Monroe's website, the Safe Housing and Healthy Homes Program brings awareness to housing-related health hazards, lead poisoning prevention, and overall principles of a healthy home.

"We encourage those that are vulnerable and of low-income populations to take the necessary actions and steps to feel safe in your home and to ensure a better quality of life," the city's website reads. "If the home does test positive for lead, you may be eligible for minor rehabilitation to address those lead hazards."
